A unique format, this book is more like a series of connected short stories than a traditional novel. I love how the stories range from funny to madcap to sweet to heartbreaking. It's a thought-provoking yet entertaining book covering one day at that beach and an entire cast of characters, many of whom connect with one another. It leaves the reader feeling like the world is smaller than one realizes, that you never know what someone is going through underneath it all, and that there is good in the world if you choose to see it.
