The Sirens
by Emilia Hart
3.5/5 stars (rounded up to 4)
I enjoyed reading The Sirens and appreciated its message about sisterhood and the strength of bonds between women.
One of my favorite parts of the book was the flashback storyline from 200 years ago, especially the relationship between the sisters Mary and Eliza. Their dynamic was compelling and emotionally rich.
However, I struggled with some of the choices made by the main characters in the present-day timeline. Jess, in particular, felt frustrating to me; she often came across as having a victim mentality, and despite not having many chapters from her perspective, I still found her insufferable at times.
I also felt that certain plot points could have been more tightly woven, and I was left wanting more closure by the end.
