Burnt Offerings by Laurell K. Hamilton

4.0

Each Anita Blake novel has a tendency to sweep me off of my feet and carry me deep inside each story. With this particular novel, I had trouble putting it down and found myself staying up way past my bedtime in order to finish it. While the last Anita Blake book delved more into the relationship between Anita and her two beaus, this one was jam packed with action as Anita and friends were visited by the vampire council who seemed intent of killing Jean-Claude and Anita. Simultaneously, someone was attacking vampires and known vampire sympathizers. Ms. Hamilton is not an author who writes in pretty pose and her novels can be quite graphic at times, but it is difficult to avoid the pull of intriguing characters and a great story.
