a delight to read as the characters felt
alive with troubles and excitements. madame bovary was brilliantly written as i found myself hating and empathising with her. the way her quest for a rich lifestyle was woven in was amazingly put
charles was a more difficult one, for i found him boring in the beginning, but bursting at the seams with beautiful writing towards the end. maybe flaubert forgot to rehash those areas? i’m unsure
overall one of my favourite books of the year, that felt slightly weighed down by a drab first act, second was amazing, and third was perfect in description atmosphere and character study
