Two of my loved ones gifted me this book after my grandmother passed away in February. I felt like I was swimming in the ocean of emotions for solid two months. After that, the overwhelming came down gradually. Reading this book was a big help. Fortunately, I was already following Janine Kwoh on Instagram before getting this book, and all her contents helped me embrace what I was feeling as a whole. However, having a tangible book like this was extra helpful. It almost made it seem like I could contain my sorrow in the book I was holding. As I opened the book and read a couple of pages each evening, I was allowed a space to process my emotions and then I was able to put it away. Grieving called for lots of breaks. It really helped to know that so many people go through this painful experience. Reading the book made me feel like I was accompanied by all the people who had experienced loss and grieved. If you are grieving, pick up a copy for yourself. If you know someone grieving, gift this to them. It'd be an ultimate show of love and care.
