A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

I’m struggling to rate this one. Reading this as an adult for the first time, I’m not sure I understand the message behind it, so I can’t imagine what a child would get from this. Meg is made out to be average time and time again, yet, she over the others, has the capacity to love wholeheartedly regardless of distance or circumstance. As we reach the finale, I still felt I viewed Meg as weaker than the others instead of on par in her own way. I did not view her as possessing something the others lacked. Maybe it’s that I felt what she perceived to be love from the Ws and Aunt Beast to be a kindness instead. A misconception that did help her win back Charles Wallace in the end. My personal life experiences might be getting in the way of my comprehension here.

I wanted to pick this one up ever since Ted Lasso gifted it to Roy Kent. I read that this book was chosen to help Roy become a better leader. It would help him to channel his anger or “faults” into positive. Not sure I saw Meg as a leader to make that connection.
