Before the Incal by Zoran Janjetov, Alejandro Jodorowsky
4.0

Very funny that this is basically just a separate story set in the world prior to the events of the Incal and then at the very end Jodorowsky has to go "uh and then a bunch of nonsensical bullshit happened to perfectly set up all of the events of the Incal". Pretty good as a whole, and the book definitely benefits from mostly just being it's own thing, and not at all a prequel (again, until it briefly becomes one at the very end, mostly in a comedic way).
