Ok I love the single dad trope and I enjoyed the build up of the relationship between Dex and Nina, they had great chemistry. I also loved the relationship between Nina and Riley, that was super sweet and I liked the Riley was an older child.
HOWEVER! The miscommunication actually wrecked the whole book for me. I could tell what was coming pretty early on and it was just really infuriating to read. I absolutely hate it when there’s a miscommunication and the characters don’t talk it out like normal human adults and just jump to stupid conclusions. And then when he realised he was wrong and did the “bold gesture of love” it was so fucking cringey and lame and gross and unnecessary.
