i listened to this audiobook with my sister as a kid and only very recently did we both go "do you remember the book about the girl who lives in a trailer park in the desert with her aunt and she has a beagle named h.m.s. beagle.."

i remember enjoying this book a lot, it was the first time ive heard of joshua trees. it made me fall in love with the californian desert
