The best of them all, as it should be for Thornchapel. The epilogue, for me, is the greatest love story through the series. Chef's kiss.
Unlike my first read, the audio relisted had me reconsidering two characters specifically: Delph and Rebecca.
Delph had always rubbed me the wrong way. A spoilt brat whose shenanigans were annoying not cute and tolerable because, oh, that's just Delph. But this time I managed to see more through her wall and actually come to tolerate her.
Rebecca on the other hand needs a swift smack upside the head for her entire take on the situation. Do not cry OH WHOA IS ME AND MY HEART when she couldn't bother to one time, to acknowledge what Delph was telling her. I Can't trust Delph, she betrayed you? Biatch, you made her feel used and you didn't support her when she needed it most. All she did was get spanked and kiss, and Rebecca acts like she slept with the football team and isn't remorseful about it.
It took a lot for me to remotely like her again.
But THIS. All this, is what makes Sierra Simone such a brilliant author.
The love, hate, bullshit, heartache, brooding, hilarious antics are so real.
I will come back to Auden and Saint and Poe, again and again.
