Bewilderment
by Richard Powers
I really enjoyed this book. Richard Powers' writing style was so lovely. It felt like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket even while dealing with some very heavy issues - loss, environmental degradation, and authoritarianism. I enjoyed the contrast of Theo who had his head in outer space with his son and deceased wife who were staunch defenders of this world. I was fascinated by the idea that life on other planets could be so very different from life on this planet, and also the assumption that a weird mind mapping machine was preferable to pharmaceutical interventions for Theo's troubled son, Robin.
