I love Octavia Butler so much but each book of hers ages me a decade from all the stress I undergo while reading. One of the most gripping books I’ve read about slavery. Loved Dana and many of the side characters—Butler always makes her lead characters so fucking smart.
The ending felt abrupt though, and I finished wanting just a little bit more of a wrap up. The end played out a little too quickly and without much closure. I felt like there was no room for grieving or any other feelings.
Still, I could not put this book down.
