Layla by Colleen Hoover

3.0

I felt fairly good about heading into this romantic thriller and it being a CoHo novel. The way she writes is wonderful and draws you in, but this storyline was rather infuriating to say the least.

Leeds seemed to only think with the one head men shouldn’t think with. He was selfish. He developed feelings for a spirit that was using Layla’s body. He began to fantasize about the spirit? It felt super strange to me.

Layla was such an innocent victim here. She loved Leeds with everything she had. I stuck through the book to root for her. I wanted them to have a happy ending despite Leeds being an asshole.

The climax of the book was not what I was expecting, and I won’t give out spoilers. But with that and the resolution, it pieced together everything else (naturally).

I do recommend this book, but I don’t think it is for everyone. I even questioned reading it at times. But I was happy to divulge in a different type of romance book.
