This was a really lovely story about reconnecting and found family. I absolutely loved Nova and Tam, and their struggles. They were both unique characters, and they both dealt with internal struggles that I don't see quite as often, especially in stories like these!!
I always appreciate very casual queer representation, especially casual coming out, like when Tam told the grandmas they use they/them pronouns now!! That little scene was really nice to see. But also getting casual disability representation with Nova being HOH was also really cool!! Because I appreciated that they didn't just Give Her Hearing Aids, they made it and important part of her character, and her insecurities!
As a lot of standalone graphic novels often are, the story did feel pretty fast-paced and went through some moments a little too quickly, but I feel that Walker did a good job of making sure to slow down in those more intimate character moments, to really give her characters some time to breathe and Be. I felt that because of this willingness to slow down, it let Tam and Nova explore their insecurities more, and made them much more interesting characters.
The story was very tender, and the characters were all so loving in a way that just warmed my heart! This is absolutely a story I will be recommending in the future!
