Out of loyalty to 1) a character I have enjoyed and 2) many nice turns of phrase (can't resist a nice turn of phrase), I'm giving this convoluted novel three stars. Poor Jackson and the women who befuddle him - they did have me chuckling several times. The story, however, was disappointing. I'm reading Atkinson's first novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, and hope to love it.
