Seeing Red by Sandra Brown
2.0

Another book I read as a challenge to myself. It is a genre that I know little about, and I am not likely to know more about the genre.

The plot is silly, the characters stereotypical, and the "romance" more adrenaline-fueled lust than any actual emotion.

The main character, a TV news reporter, vacillated between being tough and being victimized by both the hero and the bad guys. The hero is an emotionally-crippled bad boy whose idea of foreplay is sticking his hands down the heroine's pants.

So, there are many many worse stories out there, but I don't see where this is anything other than a formula book for people who have never had a healthy relationship with other human beings. Two stars because many people like this sort of thing, and it probably isn't a bad example of its genre. Just because I didn't care for it doesn't mean you won't like it.
