A Sea of Pearls & Leaves by Rosalyn Briar

I had a lot of fun reading it! A fast-paced fantasy with some passionate, sexy relationships, likeable characters and a mystery. It's a fairy-tale retelling, but I haven't read the story it's based on, so I can't compare them. It had a bit of a fairy-tale vibe while successfully subverting some common tropes though, which I enjoyed.

You'll find LGBTQ characters and ethical non-monogamy here (though it felt a bit uncomfortable for me at first as it seemed like one character just made this decision for the rest of them / sort of forced it onto the others, but later they had more sincere conversations about it, did some self-exploration, and it turned out they were all on board and happy).

The book is full of beautiful imagery and emotional roller-coasters. It was easy to read and engrossing. The story is told in the first person, present tense, and there are three POV characters. I found their voices a bit too similar to each other, but otherwise, I enjoyed reading about each of them.
