I wish I had read something like this in middle or high school. As an adult, it's tricky to separate how I think now from the mindset of being in that age. But the author does a good job at moving the plot along and bringing some realness to the characters. The awful things Rory's mom unintentionally said are unfortunately very real things that I've heard or have had friends share from their own experiences. So while it seems outrageous written in text, it's sad to find myself relating to those moments and Rory's feelings.
I was SO happy with the ending and how Rory combatted Merrit, and resolved things with the girls and Beckett. I could see it all play out like a movie.
