I enjoyed this more than I anticipated I would. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I definitely enjoyed it. The ending felt a little rushed and/or unresolved.
The book is listed as a historical romance but that didn't come until the end of the book. It was more of a historical coming of age story. Although Maude was annoying sometimes, I could overlook it because I knew she was raised in high English society and wasn't exposed to much else.
The narration was a little nasily sometimes but I was able to overlook it for the most part. The author's voice matched Maude as a character.
