The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
4.0
Best opening sentence in ages. !!!
Seriously, I had a really bogus idea of what this book was about. I knew it touched topics like rape culture and so, but I had NO idea that this book had such an interesting main character.
Mindy McGinnis: The writing, the POVS, the settings... were just a perfect match to the story. I take my hat off for you, delivering a strong and important message in such a youthful, easy but raw language; simply perfect read for teenagers or adults alike.
Also, can we talk about that ending ???
4.0 /5. If it weren't for the pacing and my first confusion with the POVs while listening to the audiobook, this would have definitely been a 5/5 rating.
Disclaimer:
I not from the United States. Therefore, I didn't grew up around or witness much of the situations plastered in this book, (personally in my teenage years or in my young adult life) but I could recognize (thanks to this book) how the rape culture "is" in my immediate society. Ergo, I believe the book did its job to perfection in the end.
