This book was disturbing, and the writing wasn't good enough to justify the unpleasantness, in my opinion. The interwoven short story format didn't work well enough for me--I found the storylines hard to follow and the characters not compelling. It was interesting to think of Chicago from the point of view of Egyptian students, so I give it two stars for a unique perspective.
