A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

adventurous dark emotional tense medium-paced

3.75

Incredible world building, great story, characters, that really feel alive. Martin is incredible with the multi POV chapters, Sansa’s chapters have a completely different field than Ned’s as they should. HOWEVER, the way Martin over sexualizes Daenerys is quite frankly disgusting, especially considering that she is 13 by the start of this book. I cannot tell you how many times I thought someone should check this man’s hard drive. The amount of rape in this book is also absolutely vile. Do not come to me with “well it’s just the way it was in the middle ages”, this is a fantasy book. No one is reading this for realism.
This book is truly the epitome of a book where it’s completely obvious the author is a man and that’s not a good thing. I wouldn’t go 50 feet near George R.R. Martin.
