Hammajang Luck by Makana Yamamoto
4.0

Firstly let me introduce Hammajang (Hawaiian Pidgin) - adjective: Messy, disorganised, all screwed up in the best (or worst) way possible.

From the jump, Hammajang Luck promises chaos - and it delivers. I cracked this open expecting a wild ride through space, and what I got was a full blown, intergalactic heist with tension, heart, and just the right amount of local flavor.

E is that kind of main character you root for even when you’re yelling “why you like do dat?!” at the page. And Angel? Oh boy. Thicc tension, complicated vibes, and I still can’t decide if I love her or wanna launch her into space.

The Pidgin sprinkled in adds a unique layer - sometimes I was vibing, sometimes I had to go back and read parts again like “eh, what dat mean?” Took me a while to get around it but once I did, it was real cool to see culture and ʻohana weaved into one sci-fi banger.

Plot wise, it’s messy, bold, and feels like it’d make one mean kine movie. If you like space, heists, and feelins all buss up, dis one for you (as Cy would put it) ✨

Well, without ruining a perfectly good ending with a spoiler… all I have to say is I’m glad it didn’t go all hammajang.
Cheehoo! Solid story, Cuz. Mahalo nui loa. 🤙
