Luciano by Eva Winners
3.0
There were three times that I stopped reading to check if there was a first book. Throughout the story the author talks about things that you are assumed to understand have happened but they haven’t happened in this book and there is no first book. It’s confusing. It would have made more sense for this to be a duology: the first where Luciano meets, kidnaps, and marries Grace and the second where she runs.
The other major issue is the repetition throughout the book. We keep being told the same things over and over and over again. She brings up having a gun put to her head but that’s it. She doesn’t explain how it made her feel or anything else. Even the spicy scenes feel the same.
There’s a lot of family info and world building in this but it’s confusing. There’s a story about the King and Romano families being from the same place in Italy but then maybe 6 chapters after they say the King family is from England. Confusing. Also confusing that an Italian mobster would have the name Kennedy. The background and characters just didn’t feel very tight.
