This was one of the most adorable and wholesome story I’ve ever read in a long time. Don't let the synopssis fool you into believing that this is just a fluffy love story- the romance develops slowly, since in the first volume our protagonists are nine years old. It is a slow burn, but the journey is well written, with very well written and developed characters. The story is mostly fluff,no major angst,a little un-realistically at times perhaps, with great humour, but honestly it is such a breath of fresh air to read such an un-complicated story, about the joys of simple country life, about achievieng your dreams, about the most suportive cast of friends ever, and about the first love, with no traces of judgement or homophobia,or un-realistically complications and misscomunications just for the sake of drama. It borders on fantasy if we were to think of the realities of China and the official views there regarding homosexuality, but sometimes you just need a fluffy book to escape to from the ugliness of the real world.
