i am not sure how to feel about this book, i am not necessarily over the moon about it nor do i absolutely loathe it. i was definitely captivated by the premise, me being a woman who is also on the edge about wanting and not wanting children. i think overall i may be disappointed with this read. i was searching for that ooomf, but could not find it. like many reviewers mentioned, perhaps it was the translation that did not deliver said expectation. the writing itself was not bad, i actually found it refreshing with its straight to the point, plain and blunt style. i think as a whole story and its flow, something was missing.

though, i still enjoyed reading this for the most part. i love stories about female friendships and the intimacies and the connections we hold with other women. i think above all that is what i got out of this book, not so much the motherhood part, but really about womanhood, the beauty and struggle of being a woman, and how much we truly need one another, and that there is no one else that can help us grow into ourselves than another woman, i.e. a mother, grandmother, sister, girl friend, niece. being a woman is so disastrously beautiful, unique and powerful.
