Chowder by Peter Brown

5.0

Chowder is an eccentric bulldog (whose owners have a few quirks of their own), but like all of us, he wants friends who like him for who he is -- so when he hears of a petting zoo opening at the supermarket, he thinks he may have just found his crowd. Honestly, this book is a delight for the illustrations alone but the message of being true to one's self (and accepting one's own little oddities along with those of others) is sweet and lovely. I imagine anyone who owns a bulldog would love this, but every dog owner who treats their pet like a child will see a bit of themselves in this story. A real treat for dog lovers both young and old.
