Hungry Hearts: 13 Tales of Food & Love by Elsie Chapman

4.0

3.5 stars

This is a fun and mostly heart-warming collection of stories centred on the family-owned food businesses on Hungry Heart Row. The title fooled me into thinking they would all be contemporary romance fluff stories, when in actual fact there's a real mix of contemporary, thriller, magical realism and supernatural. The main theme throughout is obviously food, but most of the stories also have a large focus on family and the passions of the narrating characters. I didn't love every short story, but there were certainly many vibrant characters and interesting stories to keep me reading.
