About half way through this book I wondered why it felt so familiar. Turns out, I had read half of it about two years ago, and that half of the book was so unimpressive that I completely forgot I ever started this book. Unfortunately, that feeling of general dissatisfaction carried through this entire book.
Now, that is not to say I disliked the book. In fact, I absolutely ate up about 10 of the 30 chapters, those chapters of course being the ones from the antagonist’s point of view and not any of the main five pov characters.
In fact, I am rooting for our murderous, evil, chaotic, demon-possessed couple more than I am our main characters in this book.
However, despite the slow pace and some small annoyances that can be attributed to both my personal preferences and this being a YA fantasy, I did enjoy it. And I will be reading the third book because I need to know how this ends.
