Wow, this collection of poems is a rich exploration of migration, womanhood, and generational understandings of diaspora. There are so many beautifully heartbreaking and hopeful lines throughout this project, along with exquisite plays with language that Shire generously defines for readers in a glossary. This lyrical exploration of immigrant daughterhood tackles many heavy themes and topics, yet it remains almost (painfully) hopeful in a resilient and defiant way.
