This book sucked me in immediately — I was hooked from page one. And oh my GOD, the yearning. It was delicious. I swear I physically ached during some parts.
Special shoutout to Chapter 16, aka "the one where he finds her vibrator and her book," because I was dying laughing! So funny!
That being said… I struggled a little with Oliver’s character. I understand that, given his past, he would have some social and emotional gaps. But the way he spoke — so robotic and oddly clueless — didn’t always feel believable. Sometimes it felt less like a traumatized human and more like an alien visiting Earth for the first time, and it pulled me out of the story a bit.
Also: two words I will never recover from — Moist Melon. (If you know, you know.)
Plot twist-wise, I expected a little more. They were fine, but not exactly earth-shattering.
However, the spice? The spice was spicing, and I am not complaining. At all.
Overall: a messy, emotional, sometimes-slightly-awkward but ultimately addictive read.
