The Trouble With Love by Claire Contreras

5.0

I really enjoy a sweet and steamy story in audiobook and Claire Contreras once again delivered exactly what I like. This was the perfect companion for work and mom life. The storyline was not overly complicated, but I enjoyed how the romance developed and the journey to the HEA. The only thing I wished the story had explored more was Morgan’s past. It is alluded to several times but we don’t really get resolution for some of the horrible things she survived in her past. Overall this was a really enjoyable read that stays quite lighthearted despite questionable things in the heroine’s past.

Morgan is an app developer fresh out of college hoping to land her dream job. Everything seems to be going well until reality crashes in. She had a one night stand one night after being stood up on her birthday. On her first day on the job, she quickly realizes that her one night stand is also her boss and brother’s best friend. Their chemistry is still off the charts but now they have to work together.

A workplace romance is one of my favorite tropes so I was 100% ready for this read and while there wasn’t any spicy office action, it was a steamy, romantic story. I really liked both characters and how their story evolved. The narration was superb, which is unsurprising with Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose. I always enjoy both narrators and this audiobook was no exception.
