This is the 5th(?) book in the Hunger Game series and 0.5 within the world's chronology.
I really admire Suzanne Collins' ability to have built a world that is so substantial that she can revisit it and the characters at different points and still have things to say / have her writing land solidly. I appreciate the weaving of revisiting characters like Effie, Beetee and Mags.
This follows Haymitch Abernathy (future mentor to Katniss) during his own Hunger Games reaping + beyond ~24 years prior to where her stories begin.
Honestly still so heart-breaking even though you know where the ending would bring you.
