So far this is my favorite EmHen book with Beach Read being second. I hated Poppy’s name but that’s pretty surface-level stuff.
I liked Alex. I liked how they were opposites in a lot of ways but truly saw each other and loved each other because of that, not in spite of.
I enjoyed the format of jumping back and forth in time but now I’m tempted to read it in chronological order which makes this book re-readable in a new way and makes it even better.
I don’t know where this falls in the order of publication but I can tell that her writing improved a lot since Beach Read. The qualms I had with Book Lovers (tropey small mountain town, too much banter for me) I didn’t have here. And the shared long history made it even more enjoyable.
