K. Bromberg has melted my heart once again!! Bringing me back to the wild boys of BENT with Sweet Surrender and the unexpected sudden marriage of drummer Jase "Gizmo" Gizmodo and baker Hendrix Wright. The self-proclaimed player never envisioned having a wife or ever falling in love since his childhood was defined by those he cherished most, abandoning him from the time he was 8 years old. But when his out-of-control ways threaten a world tour, the plan to show a judge that Gizmo can be stable and worthy of traveling abroad comes in the form of having Hendrix by his side no matter what. And from there, this forced-proximity romance just gets more intense with each turn of the page.

Oh my. These two. Despite the fact that Hendrix and Jase know each other for like two minutes, they have a spark that cannot be denied. Hendrix and her failing bakery after a brutal breakup with 'FU Paul' also known as 'efftard' by her mom (lol) finds a lifeline when Jase's brother suggests this arrangement for 4 months with a hefty monetary reward as payment. I loved that Hendrix was a strong woman yet was very vulnerable when it came to both her life's work and her heart. Bromberg did a great job in allowing Hendrix to mull over this offer carefully with questions that both amused and surprised both Gizmodo men and perhaps even surprised Hendrix a bit, too! But when the ink was dry on their 'contract' both lives went from zero to sixty as playing house became oh so much more than just being each other's temporary spouse.

The passion is glorious as lines are crossed and Hendrix finds in Jase the man who would forever encourage her to 'live a little'. (Although a mention of some sort of birth control should've been said. I mean, I love Jase but he does have quite the rep with the ladies but I'm not sure I'd be bare with him no matter how sexy he was! And he so is...mmm mmm mmm) That being said, however, I loved that he was able to destroy whatever FU Paul did to her confidence showing Hendrix she was beautiful both inside and out. Both of them offer a respite for the other wrangling the mayhem that has been thrown at their feet. There are still plenty of trust issues on both their parts but for Hendrix, in particular, her selflessness gave Jase the kind of calm he didn't even know he needed. And that was the most wonderful part of all.

Bromberg knows how to write rockers. The other members of BENT, Vince and Hawkin (who we previously met in their respective books) and Rocket are the only real family Jase has ever known. Their playful taunts and constant ribbing is freaking adorable and showed just how solid a band this continues to be. They were all a bit skeptical of this 'arrangement' between their Giz and his Cookie but when everyone sees that it's the real deal after it's almost ruined by self-doubt and embarrassment on Giz's part, I knew this loyal crew would accept Hendrix with open arms. She is now and forever a wicked BENT b!tch!

K. Bromberg never offers up immature and spoiled main characters. Sure, they have flaws just like the rest of us but I so appreciate what she gave us in Jase and Hendrix, two people who were fierce, determined yet could still be unguarded in a nanosecond. Her storylines entice and encourage the reader to simply get lost for a while in her words, showing us that love can take your breath away even when it's hard.

I'm thrilled the wait is over and we finally get more of the brazen boys of BENT. You'll fall bigtime for this book in the sweetest kind of surrender and I'm beyond happy to give it a huge 5 stars!
