Invisible Cities
by Italo Calvino
I don't know what I expected, but this wasn't it. The story, such that it is, is the imagined conversations between Marco Polo and Kublai Khan, except it is riddled with anachronisms. I liked how the only city Marco described is Venice, and it had a very fairy tale quality to the descriptions. But I could have done without the references to San Francisco, for goodness sake.
