How to Walk Away
by Katherine Center
As a guy who normally reads epic fantasy with huge world building and magical mechanics, Katherine Center is undoubtedly one of my favorite authors. She knows how to construct compelling characters within the first chapter and everyone has relatable motifs and anxieties. I was nervous for her to be taking on severe trauma and disability but she clearly did her homework. Yes, there are some expected genre tropes but I found myself anticipating these moments because I had connected to Margaret so much. Genuine, endearing with abundant quotes for inspiration. Even in the face of catastrophe and debility, Center shows it is possible to find your own happy ending.
