What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat by Aubrey Gordon

Challenging but worthwhile read! I know I say that about a lot of the non-fiction I read but also I try not to persist with anything that I feel like is wasting my time and that means I DNF things that suck. This book is such a strong combination of research and autobiographical details. Aubrey really drives home that we have a myriad of issues relating to weight, fat, diets, nutrition, and health in our society. My only real problem with the text is that its American-centric and I would love to see more about this topic as it stands in Australia. As someone with a history of disordered eating and body image issues I already have a lot of problems with listing to diet talk - but I am so glad that AUbrey is out here doing this work to provide us with the resources for talking about anti-fat bias and the damage that it is doing to so many people. If you're not ready to read the book, I would really recommend listening to her podcast with Michael Hobbes or reading Hobbes' article from HuffPo
