Woah - over these 13 books, my trip through A Series of Unfortunate Events changed from a light stroll into a speed-walk, followed by a steady jog and then finally into a cross-country, dead sprint. Mr Snicket never failed to surprise me, because Mr Snicket is the master of plot-twists and twisted characters, of comedic analogies and myseterious genealogies. I don’t believe that this final book was my favourite one, but Mr Snicket did a beautiful job at remaining consistent in his style and world-building, which enabled him to create a lovely, if emotionally-tumultuous, account of the final Unfortunate Event.
