The Lady Emily books continue to be a fairly enjoyable mystery series featuring an only somewhat anachronistic heroine as she solves mysteries with her husband in a variety of historical settings, though often it's just London. In this book, Emily and Colin visit Venice, and try to unpick a modern murder that seems to have been caused by some older vendetta.
I found the conclusion of this one surprised me; I was reading pretty fast and lazily, I'll admit, so I wasn't really trying to stay two steps ahead of it... and thus I felt like it came absolutely out of nowhere. I'm quite tempted to flick back and take a peek, to see if there's any clues I missed.
At this point I'm sort of relaxing about Colin's behaviour circa Dangerous to Know, but still, I don't believe a word of how perfect he is, and he's starting to annoy me in that.
