A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

4.0

I was hesitant to read this book because I saw a stage production of the story at The Children's Theater in Minneapolis and I didn't really care for it. Now I'm glad that I read it because it really was a great story.

Comparing the stage version with the book made me realize what I didn't like about the stage version. In the book, you really got to know the characters - what makes them tick, their relationships with each other and basically their place in the story. The stage version couldn't do that.

Although there are many take-aways from this book, my favorite is Meg coming into her own. What a great lesson for youth to hear - you're OK just the way you are (and by the way, your parents can't solve every problem for you).
