I quite liked this! I had some relatively minor issues, first being October making typical "dumb protagonist" decisions more often than I would have liked.

That aside, I enjoyed the world and the plot and I just really didn't want to put the book down. I've heard it gets better as it goes so I'm going to continue on!

a bit of confusion about how prominent her family was to her, then she was stranded in a pond for 14 years, and didn't really seem all too bothered to be without them after she came back. It was briefly explained that she tried to contact them but nothing really came of it but I expected it to play more of a role in the way October behaved. This is a longer series so perhaps in the future we'll get more on that but it felt like that whole part of the story was missing for me. Particularly towards the end when a doppelganger showed up looking like her daughter and she had such a strong reaction. That aside, I enjoyed the world and the plot and I just really didn't want to put the book down.
