I knew I was going to like this book. WE ARE THE REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES! Such a beautiful way to incorporate the title of the book as it closed up the story. Love Marcellus, love Tova, love Ethan. Cam, you were definitely a man child and were annoying at times but you know, I’ll let it pass because you are a direct descendant of Tova, as Marcellus described it. . Such a sweet book, I did listen to it on audio but wished I read it physically. The language was beautiful, it did take me a minute to get used to hearing the different perspectives but that’s just a me thing, it always takes me a while. The book was very real about grief and it made me truly wish people were just kinder when it comes to people loss. While I get it’s uncomfortable and those around you have to move on, grief is truly something you just live with forever; it never goes away. At least not fully. I am very please to see that Tova will have a much kinder last chapter of her life. What a beautiful way for her to still be connected tl her son and allow herself to live , kinda? I feel like she did allow herself to be frozen in grief and we all deserve to thaw a bit and let ourselves enjoy but I can only imagine how difficult it may be. I do wish we knew exactly what happened to Eric but like Tova, we just get the glimpse and are encourage to enjoy what is the now and the memories. . And I just want to give another shoutout to Marcellus; it definitely made me curious to learn more about octopus. Are they truly that empathetic and aware? I guess it’s time for me to google. But what a beauty of a friendship those two had. And how kind of Marcellus to make it his mission to let Tova have even more closure and really thanks to him, she gets to more fully live.
