Savage Inequalities: Children in America's Schools by Jonathan Kozol

4.0

Although this book is repetitive, it does an excellent job making clear that all students do not have the same chances in American public schools. I think it would be enough to read just the first chapter; you get the point that way. Another thing to note is that Kozol does not explain clearly how different states do school financing differently. In addition, the reader may leave the book assuming that school financing has not changed. I have to say, I'm a teacher in California, and I don't quite understand how school funding gets so inequitable.
