Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram

Perhaps I’m not the target audience. But then again, I like YA, I grew up as an immigrant kid, experienced depression, and like learning about Iran. I understand the point of this book, and I can appreciate a slow pace, but there were many times where I couldn’t understand what would be driving the story forward. I liked many of the characters and cared about them but could not get past the fact that the narrator sounded both like a high school student and a 35 year old throughout. That part really didn’t work for me. All that said, I am glad I read it.
