This was a really unique story that had a lot of my favorite elements: historical fiction, feminism, magical realism, mystery. It just didn't quite hit the mark for me in any of those areas. Maybe it was trying to do too much? I almost felt like I was reading an early draft of what could have been a great book with some edits, but overall it was still an interesting story with characters I enjoyed and a clear POV that resonated.
