While I found Cross's world to be very imaginative and the basic story of a automaton to human transition an intriguing idea, I felt that the love between Jack and Mila wasn't to my taste.
I've found that I'm not much a fan of the guardian love with the young innocent girl, which was especially enhanced by the fact that Mila was an automaton that the innocence was an odd thing to put together with Jack, her father figure. I didn't particularly like that aspect but the other aspects of the world and the story were intriguing and overall a good read.
