Bitch Planet, Volume 1: Extraordinary Machine by Kelly Sue DeConnick
5.0
I finally get comics.
I've read them before, sure; and I appreciate them for the art and the interesting things they can do with narrative. But I've always felt the dialogue was forced and/or corny, and no comic I ever read transitioned from panel to panel, page to page in a way that felt 100% natural. Until this one.
DeConnick and De Landro are a fantastic team. The art is amazing and it reads seamlessly, unfolding as though it were playing out right in front of me. The story is funny, smart, and fucking terrifying. I can't wait to read the second book.
