The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

*takes a deep breath* maaan, what the fuck?!

This started so well, I loved the setting and the world and I was intrigued by the premise of it. And then I kept reading, and I kept waiting for it to... do something worth my initial enthusiasm. And then I kept waiting, and waiting and it ended up severely disappointing me.

I hated all the characters, there's no development between their relationships (we're supposed to believe in affections grown in weeks and months that miss entirely from the narration of our book), and the plot is okay, but just pretty much basic for a book in its genre.

Disappointing, as I really wanted to love this. It was a 4 stars in its first 100 pages, and then my enjoyment and appreciation of this book just went down and down until it got solidified that it won't be worth my time to continue with the series.
