By the time I'm writing this review, I'm already on the third book so clearly I liked it more than I wrote in my review but, I wanted to post it anyway.
I went into this book without a clue on what the series was about except that it was popular. I just needed something to get me out of my reading slump and this book was kind of like Beauty and the Beast but fae. Which makes sense because it started off as a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It has all the same cliches of a girl getting kidnapped and falling for her captor but the storytelling is good with detail. And it was a pain to get through. The real action doesn't start until you're 3/4's of the way through. The suspense was really good and she makes the overall atmosphere very chilling.
I guessed the answer to the riddle as soon as she said it and was so mad that I got it right because it was too obvious.
I'll just say, the only reason I got through this book is because of the audiobook I listened to, without that narration, I think it would've taken me all year to read this book.
